To finish 2009 off we have been working hard at home.
Josh has the final two weeks off of work and I had the most of two weeks off.
Josh replaces the valves and handles in our shower, so it no longer drips,
yey!
we finished Christmas shopping, wrapping and delivering within two days before Christmas. Then spent 4 days visiting friends and family. Mister was happy that we returned home.
Since we have been home we have caught up on laundry, cleaning and we have started to decorate the basement. We put up the new dart board and are hanging beer signs in what Josh claims is the "man cave"
Pics will be posted eventually.
Tomorrow looks like we will hang up my new spoon rack in the dining room and hopefully get a few other things accomplished.
And this is the time to get deals on Christmas decorations, and since we dont really have any, we went and saved a ton on them :) Cant wait to put them up next year!
Hope you have a good new years

Christmas
Before you know it Santa will be here.
and today, just now I finished the cards.
however, I accidentally got caught up in sealing the envelopes that I forgot to include a letter in all the cards... and I dont know which ones... I opened some and put in a letter, but if you didnt get a letter I'm sorry
Josh is downstairs wrapping the rest of the christmas presents.
we have no decorations up, which is sad, cause I love decorations
but, we wont be home for christmas, so it really doesnt matter I guess.
Mister is just happy that Josh has been home all week. I feel bad we will be leaving him home alone for so long, I'm sure he will be fine.
In all the rushing around, dont forget what the holidays are about and why you do everything you do to prepare for the holidays.
Its your familiy and spending time with them, and remembering the true meaning of Christmas, and the birth of Jesus.
Merry Christmas to All, and to all a good night.

Welcome to Winter and the holidays
So as you all know its been a busy little while.
Josh went to Germany, and arrived home safely thankfully,
however I was sick when he got home, sinus infection which lead to pink eye,
However we hosted Thanksgiving for both of our families seperatley.
On Wednesday my parents, and brother and his family came over and stayed until thursday night, friday of course we went out shopping and then later my parents left and a few hours Later Josh's mom, Dave and Brian arrived. Unfortnatley Dave got sick while he was here.
All in all our holidays were good, we were happy to see everyone.
Now this week its literally a blizzard. So I am home from work since the roads are dangerous to get to work. but we decorated last night, so I am enjoying the decorations although we still have to put up our christmas tree.

Dont do it
Dear friends,
If you ever hear me say, I think I will wax my own legs tomorrow.
Dont let me do it!
not because it hurt... but for so many other reasons.
so I've been planning to wax my legs for a while, which you have to plan ahead for a while, because you have to grow your leg hair out like 1/4 at least, which takes a lot of devotion not to shave it off...
then you go to purchase this goo, which btw when microwaving smells amazing.
like pina coladas, which we all know I love, so I was excited... I read all the directions like it says then I went about waxing... really it didnt hurt. It hurts a little, but not bad at all, so as I get into it, I realize they only give you like 30 of those little "cloth" strips... I'm only on my calf and I've went through like 7... so I'm thinking to myself... hm... will I have enough?
then as I finish my left calf I think, well lets see how well this excess was comes off... because even though I waxed not all of the wax comes off and not all of the hair comes out. so I get out the little blue bottle full of "soothing and wax removing" liquid. well soothing maybe, wax removing NO! its a mess, my fingers are waxy, my leg is waxy, the bathroom counter... waxy... so I start spreading this blue liquid everywhere, no good,
so I jump in the shower, and use a nice warm water and blue liquid mix, I used over 1/2 the bottle only on my left calf... imagine if I would have done my whole leg... I wouldnt have enough blue stuff and I would be walking around work tomorrow with my pant leg half stuck to me. attractive. as is the bruise I got from waxing myself... I really must bruise easy, ridiculous.
and I had to shave leg anyway! so not worth it...
maybe i should have gotten it done professionally.
so all be warned, do not try this at home.

Sadly
Dear All,
Sadly mister did not get to wear his halloween costume, and entertain little children as they came to our door. We did not pass out halloween candy this year. My Grandfather passed away on October 30th 2009. My mom's Birthday. The funeral was held at my Grandma and Grandpa's house on the following Monday. He will be missed. They were married for 60 years, this past September, I can only hope to make it that long. 58 more to go.
on another note, Josh is heading to Germany this month, returning just in time for thanksgiving, unfortunately leaving all the cleaning to me. and let me tell you, there is a TON!
Happy thanksgiving

Fall Has Arrived
How do I know fall has arrived, other than the chilly and rainy michigan weather?
The colorful decorations at my house begin to show themselves... or run from the shelves at the store to my house...
And...
Mister gets out his Halloween Costume! He's all saddled up and ready to go Trick or Treating!

Finally some time to ourselves!
Well two weekends ago Josh's Brother got Married.
The wedding was really nice and the reception a TON of fun...
and of course everyone looked beautiful :)
congrats Justin and Sabrina...
I'll post a whole album on the website when I get a chance...
then last weekend my best friend had her first baby!
Welcome to the world Little Alex Wilcox!
and Josh and I celebrated our second anniversary.
we went out to a really nice dinner at Pasta Pasta and then we watched mall cop and relaxed at home. It sure doesnt feel like two years!
This weekend we will finally be able to spend at home and get some cleaning done, that will be nice!

New Neighbors
Our Next door neighbors sold their house.
The anticipation mounts to see if we will have awesome neighbors or not, I hope so, cause the ones that are leaving were really nice.

Wedding Events
For the past two weekends Josh and I have been celebrating the last single days of his brother and Sabrina.
Two weeks ago a friend and myself went to Sabrina's Bachelorette party in Put in Bay
It was a great time! I LOVED put in bay and want to go back!
Josh and Justin and a few other friends went to Vegas.
Apparently they had a really good time. But Josh said unless he has a couple grand to spend, he doesnt want to go back and was slightly disappointed.
This weekend the nuptials take place! :)
Last weekend was the going away party for my friend G, She is moving to Texas, which makes me really sad, but I think it will be really good for her. And it will be a great place for us to VISIT! Sibin and Katie live there too, so we could visit them too!
And Stacey is due any day now! I cant wait to meet my new "nephew"!

Family Camping
Well,
This week was a wet and wild adventure.
Friday night started off great, we got to my parents right on time, headed over to the campground and set up camp. the kids played and the camp fire burned late into the night.
Then Saturday morning we awoke to constant drizzle to hard rain, not fun for the tent campers in the group who took cover in campers and makeshift screen room until the sun came out in the early afternoon for a little kayaking and Canoeing.
As we sat around the fire saturday night the kids tucked snugly in their sleeping bags, the thunder began, and we waited for the first little sprinkle. Until we heard the down pour approach, quick as a chipmunk we folded up our chairs, got the drying towels off the lines and headed to our trailers for the night. leaving Roxie in the tent outside. Well about an hour after the rain began, the dog was relocated to the entryway of one of the trailers. Then about 3 in the morning after everything had been reloacted by the hard winds the pick up of items began. tables tipped over, tarps tore down, and tents blown away!
When morning light came the mess became clear, the monsoon rains had taken their toll on the roads, making many of them impassable and my parents basement flooded from one end to the other, for the first time in 30 years!
thankfully when we got home, there was no water in our basement, but another round of rain came at night and cut our warm weather short.
Back this week to 12 hour work days. Poor josh to be home alone all week with mister.

Family Weekend 1
This past weekend, we headed out to Toledo to visit the Family.
We got in around 8:30 friday night to spend the night with Josh's mom and Dave.
rise and Shine bright and early sat. for breakfast, YUM! then off to Justin and Sabrina's where Sandy and Cheryl took the kids to G-force, apparently a good movie. while Sabrina and I hit the stores. sadly we had little luck finding apparel for the bachelorette party.
and Josh and Justin went to the Beer Fest.
after we got home, the boys and their friends decided to do some reckless things as boys do and one ended up hurt... a bump on the head and a few scratches, lets hope that heels by the wedding!
On Sunday it was bridal shower mania... ok really just a bridal shower. it was great to see both sides of the family and all the great gifts Sabrina and Justin got.
next weekend, is baby shower weekend, then family camping trip, Erin's b-day weekend, then bachelorette party weekend, then bachelor party weekend and finally the wedding! and then our Second anniversary! YEY!
Also Thank you Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Rick for the Couch and TV! :)
we will post pics once our home computer is up and running or we visit Lisa's parents...

Vacation
Well, we are still getting things organized from Vacation,
but we posted a few pics from vacation on our webpage, so go check those out.
more to come.
since we got back our house has basically been in shambles... since we were too busy packign to clean, then we were too busy unpacking to clean, and in the meantime our basement got wet from a monsoon, so everything in the basement is crammed to one side.
and unorganized... so we are in the process of putting it all back together.
But Krista and Justin and the girls came to visit! and it was great! the girls loved running around the circle in our house from the entryway to the kitchen to the dining room to the livingroom and back around.
:)
it seems we are always busy,
we dont have a free weekend until the middle of July.
This has been a hectic year, it sure has flown by, I cant believe its the end of September already!!!!
where did it go?
please father time, slow down!

More Work
Gardens
I've been trying to figure out what is planted in my gardens, so I did some trimming of what was left from the fall and then added in the garden decor my mom made and my solar lights :)

Well Catch up seems to be what I'm good at latley.
So here are some things we have been up to
I bought new hot pads for the kitchen, they were on clearance and Josh swears they look like doilies, but they are so cute!
Then we got ready for Easter with a wreath and Easter Egg Decorating
:)
Then We leveled out the back yard since after the new septic system is was a mess,
5 cubic yards of dirt later it looks good!

OLD Habits die hard
Thats right
old habits die hard...
some harder than others
my fun hobby of locking keys in places such as my car has not escaped me.
Unfortunate.
the other day we managed to lock ourselves out of our house.
no phone no keys no cars unlocked...
the garage was, however, open.
we tried to brake in several different places no luck
so josh walked next door and they let us call a locksmith
let me tell you they make good money for 10 minutes of work...
lets hope that doesnt happen again.

History of our House
So Josh and I were talking to our Neighbor and apparently he was doing a little research on our house.
He talked to the neighbors, and some of them have been living in their houses since they were built.
Apparently our house was the first one built in the subdivision and it was owned by someone that was fairly high up in the Upjohn company (now bought by pfizer)
why did they pick the smallest lot in the subdivision? lol...
i'm not sure if its the smallest... but somedays the less than half an acre seems confining to me, when I grew up on 2.5
And according to Trulia
the people that lived in our house before us bought it in July of 2004.
and i think they moved out in march 2008 and the moving company had it until we bought it in November or 2008.

Bring the Month to a Close
Once again this has been a busy month for us.
We have been doing home renovations and keeping things clean... or at least trying to.
however, the people that painted didnt take the smoke detectors off the wall to paint... so now we have a random colored ring around our smoke detectors... nice
but our first load was a disaster. we ran the washer while we went for a walk, (we ran a cycle without anything in it first to make sure everything was ok) well the washer went for a walk too and pinned the laundry basket agains the wall and dug a hole in our linoleum...
turns out you have to take some bolts out in the back before running a washer...oops
and Jeremy and Lisa have sold their house
which is great! They were nice enough to give us their dining room table and Chairs.
Josh installed our new Dishwasher.
We also got new Smoke Detectors and CO2 detectors after the one upstairs went off for no reason one morning while I was in the shower and Josh slept right through it.
and the one on the main floor hasnt worked since we moved in.however, the people that painted didnt take the smoke detectors off the wall to paint... so now we have a random colored ring around our smoke detectors... nice
And Josh has been complaining we dont have a garbage can in the kitchen, which we didnt... but we had been looking for one that was nice and we were lucky enough to find a rectangular one that fits in the house perfectly!
And we got a new washer, Thank you john for helping us carry that in! it weights a TON!but our first load was a disaster. we ran the washer while we went for a walk, (we ran a cycle without anything in it first to make sure everything was ok) well the washer went for a walk too and pinned the laundry basket agains the wall and dug a hole in our linoleum...

Busy
Well, this past weekend we had a few friends over.
the guys went to the beer fest and then came over and we all went out to dinner and came back to the house for some games.
during the day on Sat. Lisa P. and I noticed that it was getting cold, but thought it was just us.
then as the day progressed it kept getting cold, on sunday the house would not get above the low 60s, so we went to lowes and got a new thermostat, and installed it.
however, monday morning came around and it was in the low 50s in our house!
well Josh replaced the filter on Monday evening, and our house has been warm ever since! :)
and it seems the heater is working better than ever! yey!
I've been working on my quilt,
I finally got all of the squares cut out and the blocks laid out and the first block sewn together!

Stupid People
Dear Stupid inconsiderate People;
This is my rant to you.
I know its hard times right now.
But honestly.
Do you think its not hard for me to replace my car window?
Do you think that I have all the money in the world and that GPS you took out of my car was pocket change?
no its not, I still have to pay my bills and figure out a way to fix my window.
do you think I enjoyed driving home 70mph with out a window in below freezing temperatures.
this is ridiculous.
honestly, the GPS I'm sad its gone because I'm directionally challenged...
what I'm more sad about is my car window being broken...
learn to pick a lock or something.
seriously if you are going to be a good thief... not a thug...
I made it through 5 years of flint without my car getting broke into... but I didn't even make it through 4 months at a park n ride in Kzoo...
I thought this was supposed to be a nice city.
you know.
the other day I even gave some guy that said he was homeless at the corner all of my change...
it wasn't a ton, but it was something,
I thought Karma was supposed to come around... what happened to that?
wheres my good Karma?
sigh...
and look below for a view of your "handy" work
-Disgruntled
Abandoned
So I'm beginning to feel like I smell or something
(and honestly the whole talking in the third person thing is getting old, we all know Josh does not update this blog... its me... moving on)
We bought a house in a really nice neighborhood with a bonus, we knew people that lived less than a mile away! and people we liked!
then we met our next door neighbors, and they were nice, made us welcome to your new home cookies and everything!
and guess what! they put their house on the market on Monday!
Sigh, our only hope is cool people our age move in next door. that would be nice.
we shall see...
in other news
I still have bronchitis, josh now has a cold, and Mister... well hes still thinks he owns the house, although he has quit scratching door frames...

Quilting Continues
Lisa is working on her Second quilt.
This one is a basic 9 patch with strips between the 9 patches...
Right now she is working on cutting out the squares and laying them out to see what looks good together, right now it is about half way laid out. Hopefully by the end of the week it will be finished and the sewing can begin.
Ants
Oh! and this weekend Mister was on the hunt.
Apparently its spring and the Ants are out.
On Saturday 7 ants were found in varying sizes... some looked to be carpenter ants... 5 to be exact...
on Sunday only 3 ants were found 1 Carpenter sized ant.
and This morning, our ant count is 1 so far... carpenter sized...
YIKES!
I hope I this doesn't mean they are munching away at our house!

Working Weekend
Well The first weekend in February turned out to be a productive one.
Lisa's parents came over to lend a hand and to visit.
Sat morning, we got up and cleaned. Lisa is still recovering from Bronchitis.
When Lisa's parents arrived early afternoon, the work began, for the guys at least.
Josh and Dad started to work on the phone lines, which some were disconnected, some were working, and Dad brought his phone equipment to straighten things out.
All was resolved in no time, they also fixed the garage door openers and now they all work! Then they relaxed until Lisa and mom returned.
Lisa and Mom stopped in at meijer to pick up ingredients for dinner,
then they put together dinner and headed out to do a little shopping.
The first store they stopped by was Salvation army, not very impressive, then to Goodwill, where Lisa picked up a couple of books, a bowl and a stool, which she was lucky to get.
On Sunday, Mom helped Lisa with a quilt she has been working on, and Josh and Dad tried to fix the squeak coming from the washer, and they also build some shelves into our "office" closet... so finally we can store things!
Sometime during the week our Meijer had began selling their fixtures so they can make room to remodel. For $5 we were able to pick up a rack for clothes, so Lisa can use that to dry clothes instead of hanging them in the closet as she has been doing.
We felt so accomplished after this weekend!

so I saw the stool in the back room, and asked one of the sales associates if it was for sale, she said "no, that is our stool" so I said thank you and went on my business browsing around. Then as I was getting ready to check out, I see the stool sitting by the check out, with a price tag on it! I took hold of the stool and guarded it with my life. Asking the sales associate at the counter, and all the patrons around if any one was purchasing the stool. They all said no, amid the chaos of something being voided out of one of the cash registers, which later was found to be the stool. A man had wanted to the stool, but did not have enough $, so he could not buy it, I picked it up and waited in line and purchased it right then! the stool was mine for the low price of $13! it is a great antique stool with red seat and steps that fold under the stool. then off to TJMaxx and home for Taco Soup! YUM!

Revamping

Well we got tired of updating the other blog becuase it didnt work right.
so we have imported all of the old blogs into here and will use this from now on :)
1-2-2009
For our vacation we have been visiting the apartment everyday to do some laundry because we dont have a dryer at the house yet, and also to finish getting the things out of the apartment.
for the most part we have been successful, we still have a few things on the porch, in the garage and kitchen and of course the laundry, but everything else is cleared out.
FINALLY!
Also we have been working on getting things organized in the house, for the most part the kitchen is done, however, the rest of the house is a work in progress.
Josh fixed the leaky seal in the kitchen sink today and Mister supervised.
so no more buckets under the kitchen sink :)
YEY!

Since we moved in we have been trying to get the internet, however no luck so far, it was supposed to be ready on Friday, the guy came and activated our phone line, but work in the office still needs to be done. We have to wait until friday now.
We did also get our dish network on friday, I think I like comcast better.
Almost everyday since we moved into the house Lisa has been making trips back to the apartment on her way home from work.
She does a load of laundry and packs up some items to bring home. Josh has stopped by a few times and packed up the desk, and this weekend a few other boxes, it looks like we have gotten everything out of the master bath... making progress I guess. however, kind of sad that we are only fully moved out of the master bath.
At the house we are still living out of boxes for the most part, with Christmas coming up quickly we are concentrating on getting our Christmas cards out and presents wrapped, we wont even have time to put our tree up, which is ok, now that we are not hosting christmas this year.
the other day we were unpacking our car and Lisa thought she saw something out of the corner of her eye, and thought nothing of it, just the cat must have ran by or something.
So after we unpacked the car Lisa started to put stuff away, and Mister was acting all weird, hiding under everything, as lisa picked up a laundry basket a BAT comes flying at her! She runs out into the Garage and Yells "AAAAAHHHH BAT!" Josh comes in to the rescue, and gets a broom and starts creeping around the house. He gets into the diningroom and the bat tries to dive bomb him, Josh misses with his broom. The bat, flies up the stairs. Finally we hunt him down in one of the bedrooms, but we arent sure its behind the curtain, a sheer curtain, so Josh throws a dust pan at it and misses, the bat didnt move, so he creeps up slowly and BANG! hits it with the broom, it drops to the floor, we stuff it in a plastic bag and head to walmart to throw it out,
we dont have garbage service yet.
We have also had a massive amount of snow so josh has spent several hours getting to know the driveway and the neighbors, Mike lives to the east of us and Nancy lives across the street :)
Good to know your neighbors.

This weekend we moved in to our house technically.
Thank you to Adam, Justin, Lisa's Mom and Dad and Lisa and Jeremy!
Friday night Adam and Justin came up to our apartment, so they were ready to go bright and early Saturday morning. (10am)
They helped move all of the big stuff into the house, so now all we need to move is our dishes, and small items from the apartment, our goal is to have all of that accomplished by the end of december.
Lisa's mom and Dad spent the night to help us move another load of items in the morning. Mostly clothes adn other small things around the house, then they headed home.
We havent fully unpacked everything yet, or found a place to keep everything!
We are still trying to find a good place to put Mister's Litterbox.
So the work continues :)
Many people have been wondering,
Our Apartment Address in Kzoo is still valid until Jan of next year.
so feel free to mail items there,
if you still want our new address at the house e-mail us, we will be sending it out in our X-mas letter as well.
Also Lisa and Jeremy, Thank you for the Welcome mat! ;)
We really appreciate it!
and Stacey and Chris thank you for the Platter! Its the only Christmas decoration we have out!

We were going to clean on Friday, but the roads were too bad to go over to the house and worry about coming back tired on friday night.
So we headed out early Saturday morning, we were able to finish the family room, and most of the kitchen, all the appliances and everything
and we uncovered some beautiful avocado green with yellow linoleum when we moved the dish washer...
On Sunday we scrubbed the kitchen floors, and finished the Living room and Dining room and the bedroom downstairs
monday we took off and went and visited lisa's mom real quick to pick up things like dishes for x-mas dinner and etc. and then we went to Ikea! and did a little shopping,
Tuesday we were back at it, josh scrubbed all the carpet and lisa cleaned the laundry room and bathroom.
Finally we are done cleaning the house! we move in this saturday.
12-3-2008
Well with 23 days and counting until we are hosting Christmas dinner for Josh's Mom's family, we have a lot of work to do.
So no more slacking off.
Last night we didn't get much accomplished, but every little bit helps. We finished washing the walls and windows and ceiling in the kitchen.
Tonight we hope to tackle all of the appliances... you need somewhere to cook Christmas dinner!

We looked into the grey grout, and we thought about how we are going to clean up after it, so we are going to wait until spring so we can clean up outside instead of washing the extra grout down the sink and clogging up the pipes...
and apparently they dont make cork seals anymore, so we have to make our own... we got our cork at Joann fabrics... really cheap actually and we will have some left over incase we need to replace it again... which hopefully we wont.
and finally we got to our cleaning.
we finished up the masterbed room,
we will have to clean the outside of our window and the screen in the spring as well...
but the walls, ceiling and vents are washed, and the inside of the window clean and the curtains.
And we will have to scrub the carpet and the curtains (cause they arent the kind you can put in the washer) :)
so a little progress today...

So we finally closed on our house on the 19th!
Our first night we invited Lisa and Jeremy over to check it out since we will be living really close to them now! it will be great!
so they stopped by and brought some pizza and beer :) Thanks!
Then yesterday we decided we were going to start the cleaning process.
We packed up all of our cleaning supplies from the apartment and headed to the house, stopping at walmart to pick up a few missing items.
We got to the house around 8pm, unpacked and decided to start in the master bath.
After an hour of cleaning we didn't get too far, but we are making progress.
We were able to clean the sink and vanity, however we could not figure out how to get the drain out, so we couldn't clean it, any ideas?
We also got the medicine cabinet clean, expect we forgot paper towels, so tonight we will clean the mirror. We also got the light fixture clean and started to clean the vent fan when we realized we needed tools to complete the job, so we've started packing list for tonight to continue our cleaning :)
hopefully we can post pics soon!

Bringing our November to a close. Lisa's parents came over to visit and help clean.
After a filling thanksgiving dinner and a good sleep, we took friday off to go Christmas shopping, but Saturday we were back at it bright and early.
After help from Lisa's Mom and Dad we finished cleaning the entire upstairs, the carpet has been scrubbed and everything, all the way down the stairs.
the second bathroom will need some regrouting and caulking, but we can do that after finish cleaning.
Josh and Lisa's dad put in the new locks. And Lisa's parents dropped off the christmas decorations we have been storing at their house :) so we will be able to decorate after we finish cleaning.
Lisa and her mom also took a quick break and headed to Goodwill for a little shopping and check out the chair they picked up :)
tomorrow back to cleaning, the entryway is next on our list.

we finally took some picturesWell on friday we thought we would stop by Lowes on the way and pick up a few things like light bulbs and etc. and well... we spend like two hours there and didnt get to cleaning and on saturday we went to Josh's brother's house for thanksgiving, so cleaning was left for sunday
We finished the master bedroom except we need to regrout the shower floor, recaulk around the sink and shower and the light in the shower needs a new cork seal.
while we were cleaning our bathroom we thought the shower head was a little gross... so we replaced it...
check out our new shower head
And grout... quite possible the horriblist thing to clean ever...
Then we cleaned the master closet
the people that painted and organized that thing were clearly home improvement retarted.
they didnt move the shelving to paint
they didnt paint above the top shelf...
and the shelving units were uh... interesting
but to top it off... the list of items left behind
2 pairs of socks
2 teeth (the toothfairy visited)
1 pair of underware
then we start to clean the master bedroom, but we only got it vacuumed and the light and fan cleaned...
so hopefully tonight or tomorrow we can get some more cleaned...
