DI had not been to the Mitten in 4 months,
Believe it or not, this is the longest amount of time I think I have been away...
So I fit in as many good things/times as possible.

Great friends

As a going away present from a new friend I met while in North Carolina, she, a non-sewer, ventured into our local quilt shop and bought some great fabric for me.

Some were batiks, eek! I've never ventured into batiks... I put them in my pre-cut drawer, I will have to find a project to do with batiks... I'm a little scared, but thankful that I will have to venture out!

The strangers you meet

Your parents probably told you not to talk to strangers when you were younger, before the internet.
Now parents probably tell their kids not to add anyone as a friend that they don't know in real life, or email them.
I have now broken all of these rules.  But how else do you make friends?

For almost a year I have been chatting with a fellow blogger for about a year that lives in mexico. While I was in mexico we met for coffee. It was really nice to meet her in person. We talked for an hour or so, I look forward to spending more time with her after the final move.

I had also been told about a group in the area that was all expats, and a couple people had said they would get me in contact with them. However, they found me!

Josh and I were sitting at dinner, and this group walked in, josh and I were talking about how we didn't think they looked Mexican. They apparently didn't think we did either, one of the ladies came over to our table and asked if we spoke English and invited us to join them for dinner, so we did. After dinner we joined them at a local pub. We had a great night!

Sometimes your parents are right, you shouldn't talk to strangers, but sometimes, you should.
I look forward to new friends that were once strangers :)

Driving in mexico

At first I was scared, I had never driven in a different country (canada doesn't count).

I rode around with josh for a week. We planned for my practice drive for the weekend in The morning, because the traffic wouldn't be that bad. I hate city driving.

I drove to the mall in preperation for my solo trip later in the week. Twice. Also we figured out how to get the nav system to speak  in English! So that was awesome!

I like that at a stop light only one direction has a green light. No oncoming traffic.
I dislike that they turn left from any lane and are really aggressive drivers.

I made it to the mall and the grocery store all on my own! I can drive in a foreign country!

Furniture Shopping

Serious furniture shopping is something Josh and I have only had to do once.  We bought a nice dining room set.
We bought this while we still lived in Michigan. We went to Art Van and saw this set on clerance and loved it, so we put in an order and a few days later it was to be delivered.

A few days after it had been delivered we started to put it together. We had all of the chairs assembled and the Table, but not the hutch. Thankfully because we found out that week we would be moving to North Carolina. We packed it up and moved it to North Carolina with us. It is again packed up, and put in storage for the duration of our journey to mexico.  However, it took us a whole day to buy this dining room set.

Now we have to buy a whole house full of furniture, A WHOLE HOUSE! we've only ever bought 1 room! I'm over whelmed...

We have went to several furniture stores here in Mexico, and one store that we really liked was super expensive, we will probably not buy a lot from there, and everything was imported from the US... hahahaha....

but I did find this chair at a different store... I think its going to be mine...hhahahahhaha...
